Mini Biography
China Zorrila was born in Urugay in 1922. She studied theater in London and New York for several years. As a matter of fact, she is very fluent in English and has a very British accent.
She started her career in Argentina in 1972 at the age of 50. She made her debut in theater in the play" Las Mariposas son Libres" with leading actor Rodolfo Beban ad the diva of Argentina" Susana Gimenez". She appeared for the first time in television in the soap opera "Rolando Rivas Taxista" (1972). She stated that was not sure about working in any soap opera until was told by a colleague that the author of "Rolando Rivas taxista", Alberto Migre" was a "genius". After that, she appeared in many soap operas written by Alberto Migre.
China Zorrila is still very busy in show business. In fact, a lot of directors, authors, and producers ask Ms. Zorrilla to work with them.
Trivia
Her father was the sculptor Jose Luis Zorrilla de San Martin. Her grand-father-Juan Zorrilla de San Martin - is the National Poet of Uruguay. Sister Guma Zorrilla was a celebrated and awarded theater and movie costume designer.
In 2004 she was honored as "Ciudadano Ilustre de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires" ("Illustrious Citizen of the City of Buenos Aires").
